It is with great pleasure that Grisebach introduces our new Managing Director and representative of Grisebach Switzerland: Michèle Sandoz has a long-standing track record of over 25 years within the international art world and is deeply connected in the global art market.

For almost a decade, Michèle Sandoz held the role of Global Head of VIP Relations and member of the Management Board. She spearheaded the global development and oversaw the implementation and execution of Art Basel’s client strategy and lead the worldwide VIP teams along with its global client network. Prior to that, Michèle headed Christie’s Zurich office as General Manager for seven years. Most recently, as Head of the Art Initiative for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva, she initiated the Art Prize for Humanity.

Michèle Sandoz was born in Zimbabwe where she spent her childhood and partly in Niger. She studied East Asian Art History and Chinese Language and Culture at the University of Zurich and at the Beijing Language and Cultural University in China. During that time, she spent many years in China and Taiwan. Currently she sits on various advisory boards which reflect her cultural involvement worldwide, eg. Member of the Advisory Board of the Executive Master in Art Market Studies (EMAMS) at the University of Zurich, Board Member of the Lagos Biennial (Nigeria), and of the art fair Paris Internationale. Furthermore, she is the Founding Member of the Global Council of the Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (ZEITZ MOCAA) in Cape Town (South Africa).

Daniel von Schacky, Grisebach’s Managing Partner, adds: “I am delighted that with Michèle Sandoz as new Managing Director for Switzerland we have won a highly experienced and globally connected art professional. Together, we will continue to raise Grisebach’s profile in Switzerland and beyond, while further development the company’s strategy towards a stronger focus on digitalization, internationality and contemporary art.”

Grisebach has been present in Switzerland since 1990 and opened in 1998 its first office on Zurich’s famed Bahnhofstrasse. Thanks to the longstanding tradition of collecting art in Switzerland in the core areas of the company, Grisebach Switzerland has grown over the years into a cornerstone of the company’s international activities. Besides providing art consulting services and auction estimates, the office also regularly hosts events and exhibitions.
